Soulbound Seed Bonds: The Mystery Currency Explained

Every economy has one asset that nobody can quite price. In Soulbound: Online, that asset is the Seed Bond — a currency you can earn, hold, and trade, but not actually use for anything. This guide covers everything the official wiki documents about Seed Bonds, and is honest about the (large) gaps where nothing is documented at all.

What are Seed Bonds?

The official wiki defines them plainly: “Seed Bonds are a liquidity reward currency in Soulbound earned by contributing specific Seeds to liquidity pools.” In other words, they’re a reward for parking your farming seeds in the game’s automated market maker (AMM) instead of selling or planting them.

Seeds themselves are the input side of the farming skill — “Seeds are used in Farming to grow crops”, and “as your Farming level increases, more advanced seeds become available.” So Seed Bonds sit at the intersection of two systems: farming consumes the seeds, and the AMM turns idle seeds into bond accrual.

Like the game’s other bond activity, Seed Bonds are associated with Desat Bank in Arcadia City on the wiki’s currency page.

How Seed Bonds are earned: staking seeds in AMM pools

The mechanism, per the Seed Bond wiki page: “Players can earn Seed Bonds by depositing eligible seeds into AMM liquidity pools.” Accrual is passive — “as long as seeds remain in the pool, Seed Bonds will accumulate over time” — but strictly conditional: “accumulation only occurs while seeds are actively staked in the AMM.” Pull your seeds out and the meter stops.

The wiki lists 22 eligible seed types but publishes no accrual rates and doesn’t say whether higher-tier seeds accrue faster. If you’ve measured any of this in-game, you know more than the documentation does.

The big caveat, stated up front: the AMM wiki page currently says “AMM Trading is unavailable for now, PixelBay is the new trading platform in Soulbound.” Since Seed Bond accrual depends entirely on seeds being staked in the AMM, the earning side of this currency is in limbo along with the AMM itself. Whether existing pools still accrue, or whether staking will return in its old form, is not documented anywhere official. Player trading, meanwhile, lives on Pixelbay.

The catch: no redemption path (yet)

Here’s what makes Seed Bonds strange. Gold Bonds — their better-known sibling — have a clear exit: “Gold Bonds can be exchanged for Gold by speaking with Clyde inside the Desat Bank in Arcadia City.” Seed Bonds have no equivalent. The wiki is blunt: “They cannot currently be redeemed, and their future use remains unknown”, and elsewhere on the same page, “their exact utility has not yet been revealed” and “their future use remains speculative at this time.”

That’s not us hedging — that’s the official documentation hedging.

Seed Bonds vs Gold Bonds

Gold Bonds Seed Bonds
Earned by Staking resources (ores etc.) in AMM pools (see our upcoming Gold Bonds guide) Staking seeds in AMM pools
Redeemable? Yes — for Gold, via Clyde at Desat Bank No — no redemption path exists
Tradable between players? Yes Yes, per the wiki
Current value Anchored to Gold Whatever another player will pay

The redemption difference is everything. A Gold Bond has a floor: it converts to Gold. A Seed Bond’s value floats entirely on player belief about what Spiderware will eventually let it do.

Tradable but unredeemable: a pure speculation asset

Despite having no use, Seed Bonds “are tradable between players” — the currency page confirms it. That combination makes them the closest thing Soulbound has to a pure speculation asset: the only value they hold today is what someone else will pay for them on the player market, presumably in the hope that a future update gives them a redemption path or crafting use.

Should you hoard or sell Seed Bonds?

We can’t tell you — nobody can, because the developer hasn’t revealed what Seed Bonds will do. But here’s an honest framework:

  • Hoard if you believe the “bond” naming is a hint (Gold Bonds redeem for Gold; maybe Seed Bonds will redeem for something) and you can afford dead capital. The wiki’s Desat Bank association is suggestive, but nothing more.
  • Sell if you’d rather hold Gold, which is spendable today. Every earning method in our gold guide produces currency you can actually use; Seed Bonds produce a maybe.
  • Either way, don’t pay a premium for them expecting a guaranteed payoff. “Their future use remains speculative” is a direct quote, not our opinion.

If you land on “I’d rather just have liquid gold,” you have options: earn it, trade for it on Pixelbay, or — if you’re considering buying — check the live price comparison and read the safety guide first. Gold you can spend beats a mystery you can only admire.
